What a cracker time of year.

If you’re an athlete, chances are you’ve scarpered the country (probably long ago) to compete and train somewhere warm and exotic.

And for those of us who are not, we get to live vicariously through those fore-mentioned athletes, watching the world’s best compete in competitions around the globe. And all from the comfort of our living room. Fantastic! The quality of televised sport is now spoiling the avid fan – with live coverage of anything from athletics, to rowing to cycling.

It’s a great time to have an insomniac newborn – never too far from a northern hemisphere World Champs, PGA round or Tour de France stage in the wee hours of the night. There’s something pretty exciting about watching our athletes compete overseas, in the middle of the night here I reckon. Not to mention when they clean up against the rest of the world. I’ve just finished watching the final day of the World Rowing Champs – simply awesome.

And just when we think we can’t do another all-nighter, we roll with perfect timing into the gentlemen’s hours of the Rugby World Cup! Brilliant!
This winter has been perfect training for the London Olympics next year. Can’t wait!
