It has been a great week of training and racing in Pau and I have especially enjoyed paddling on this white water course and the French hospitality.

I paddled a safe race in qualifications and was in 5th position after first runs. I had the 7th fastest run time in qualifications + one touch which put me in 12th position heading toward the semifinals. It was good to put down a solid first run and know that I was guaranteed a place in the semifinal regardless of my 2nd run.

The semi final was a tough course and I knew it would be a matter of getting in the right headspace and reacting well around the poles to progress to the final. I had a good top section and then hit one of the tricky sections and dropped really low into one of the upstreams. From there I found it difficult to get back on line and continue to be reactive. I started hesitating and from there it was all over really. I finished in 26th position having lost a lot of time in some of the moves.

I can take a lot of positives and improvement points from this race as I head to Spain today for the final World Cup and last big race before the Olympics.

I am happy with where I am at in this stage (knowing I am very much capable of putting down fast times) and there is still time to iron out a few things before the games.

Thanks for your support
