Wow... what a Games. It was an amazing effort from the NZ team. I am delighted for the athletes and coaches alike.

High points? Where do you start? I loved the start of the games with the three rowing gold. All three were very special and very different.

I don't know how the double of Nathan and Joe did what they did. I wish I could have finished my races like that!

The men's pair was astounding with their dominance. Obvious comparisons will be made with the great Sir Steven Redgrave but they will probably have to win another gold or four to match his record! However I do believe they are the best rowers I have seen in my generation. I don't say that lightly.

I was also really genuinely pleased to see Mahe win the single sculls. He sculled beautifully and his win was an amazing victory for NZ.

Awesome efforts with the women’s pair and men’s lightweight double. They both fought so hard.

I guess in reflecting on the rowing, I was very proud of the whole team. Not just the gold medal winners, but even crews like the men’s quad that fought a brave fight to win the B final. All the Kiwi crews finished and looked like they had left nothing on the race course.

But wait...there was more. Go the sailors, go Lisa Carrington, and what great news that Valerie was bumped up to gold.

It is fantastic news for Sport NZ who has invested so much time, energy and money in to their systems. Whatever is happening is working well.

How exciting for NZ and look out Rio.
